FEATURE: OUR GUIDE TO MACMILLAN FEST 2016
This year’s Macmillan Festival kicks off later this week in Nottingham, bringing together the all of the best local bands and alongside the likes of InMe, Blood Youth and SikTh to raise money for a great cause. We selected a few of our favourites from this year’s line up to give you a taste of what’s on offer.
WHERE AND WHEN: 15:30-16:00, Spanky Van Dykes
High Tides released their debut EP, Home Truths, right the way back in January. Since then they’ve played an almost constant string of shows across the area with the likes of Tuskens and Catch Fire. We’ve previously described these guys as classic Pop Punk done well and I’d say that’s a pretty good summation.
ON THE OPEN ROAD
WHEN AND WHERE: 15:40-16:10, TotalRock Stage
Nottingham is producing some stellar Pop Punk bands these days and On The Open Road are another great example of that. Their current discography is jam-packed with catchy anthems that are perfect for an all-dayer like Macmillan Fest.
WHEN AND WHERE: 17:50-18:20, Rescue Rooms
After three great years of touring everywhere and anywhere, Adelphia are calling it a day. If you wanna see them at their last ever home town show then you better get your arses down to the Rescue Rooms.
WHEN AND WHERE: 17:30-18:00, Rock City Main Hall
Black Peaks have a really interesting sound: It’s switches between really heavy and kinda indie within seconds. The band recently are set to do a co-headline tour with Heck next month and are fresh off the festival circuit so are sure to be in fine form for their set this weekend.
WHEN AND WHERE: 19:15-19:45, Spanky van Dykes
If you’re a part of the online UK Pop Punk scene then you’ll already be familiar with Catch Fire. They recently put out a cover of Alessia Cara’s Wild Things and everyone went absolutely nuts over it! Definitely not one to be missed.
